Now, fabrics are no stranger to recording environments. This is Yoel Fink from MIT in the US who, along with his colleagues, developed this new fabric microphone. In recent years, we’ve been trying to see if we could reimagine what fabrics could do and really try to open up some interesting opportunities that mostly stem from the fact that fabrics cover some of the most potentially valuable real estate on the planet, which is the surface of our bodies. Fabrics keep us warm or cool, they protect us from the elements, even from bullets, but the world of thread technology is advancing at a rate and researchers are always looking for the next big thing.
